Some problems...

Yesterday,,I got some mails from the students living in Cali and Barranquilla. They' re worried because the Tienda Javeriana asked them to send original receipts of their payment... it is going to take more time than expected. Also these students are not familiarized with technology but they intend to do a virtual program... and for one student the situation is even worse because he uses a borrowed PC, it broke, there isn't internet connection in his town and he doesn't have the money to buy the CD-rom. So I phoned the Assistant at the Licenciatura a distancia, and reported the news. They are studying the situation and will make up their minds next week.
It sounds like a soap opera but it is real life. The ones in Bogotá, well, only 2 have done the Registration process. Let's wait and see what happens next week when the course schedule officially starts.

Staying up late

Uuuuff! Today has been such a busy day! The CD-roms are available in Bogotá at La Tienda Javeriana, and I spent all afternoon sending e-mails with instructions and documents to the 8 students in the course. Well, I'm tired but excited. Now, it's almost midnight and I'm still doing tasks for my EVO2007 workshops...a night owl, you know.
I'm very happy because I took part in a contest about "Innovations in Pedagogical Practices" and my proposal on Blended learning: The Virtual Community as a support for the EFL Learning Process was selected as one of the winners. Awesome!

January 22nd-26th

The term has just started. And finally my virtual course for beginners has so far six students. It's my "baby" because I have devoted a year an a half to analyzing the software, studying the syllabus, designing the new structure, working collaboratively with the developers in USA to adapt it to the university standards in Foreign Languages and so on....well , it's the end of a long journey and the beginning of a new one.
